for RTD Board District F

Celestin
I am a dedicated community member with extensive experience. At 68 years old, I have been married for 39 years and have resided in Aurora for the past 40 years. I’m an honorably discharged Army veteran and former bus operator for RTD having retired in December 2023. My previous roles include serving as a Civil Service Commissioner, Human Relations Commissioner, KCRT (Key Community Response Team) member, Board Member of The Mile High Transplant Bank, and Advocate for Children (A CASA Organization). Additionally, I completed a two-year leadership academy with RTD.
I first came to Colorado 40 years ago with the military as a member of the U.S. Army’s 24th psychological operations (PSYOP) unit. When I saw the open space and beautiful mountains, I knew it was a place to make home.
Why I’m Running
Ensuring
public
transportation
is
-
As a transit rider and former bus operator of 15 years, I personally understand the safety concerns of riders and drivers. I'm in favor of additional security around our light rail stations as well as piloting an ambassador program on our more popular transit lines.
-
In a metro area of almost 3 million people, it's paramount that our public transportation is frequent enough that folks can use it to commute to and from work, run errands, and visit friends, family, leisure, and third places. As RTD Board member, I will ensure that my district, as well as the region at large, receives frequency improvements along our most popular transit routes, improving the lives of folks in Arapahoe County by giving them their time back.
-
When RTD says a bus or train will show up at a particular time, they should mean it. As a former operator for RTD, I know how important punctuality is to our riders. As an RTD board member, I will make sure the agency is held accountable to a higher standard that restores public trust in the agency's ability to run reliable transit services.
